1. Features of High-Rise Members
High-rise steel columns and beams have large sections, thick plates and complex connections, often using box columns, H-beam members and intricate joints. These members demand higher detailing accuracy, weld quality and dimensional tolerances than ordinary plants, so more complete detailing and process preparation are needed before fabrication.
2. Detailing and Segmentation
- Connection detailing: beam-column joints, diaphragms, stiffeners and field connections checked at the model stage;
- Segmentation: split columns and beams into shipping/erection segments with marked splice positions and joints;
- Trial assembly: consider factory trial assembly for complex joints or sensitive overall dimensions.
3. Key Fabrication Controls
- Cutting and assembly: thick-plate cutting, groove preparation and assembly accuracy;
- Welding distortion: weld sequence, groove angles and countermeasures to reduce post-weld straightening;
- Diaphragms and stiffeners: the assembly and welding sequence of internal diaphragms in box columns;
- End preparation: column end milling or preparation to guarantee field splice accuracy;
- Dimensional inspection: critical dimensions, hole positions and straightness re-measured and recorded to drawing.
4. Surface Treatment and Delivery
Members are shot blasted and coated per project requirements, with protection and marking for thick plates and special areas; segments follow transport and lifting conditions, and our Foshan factory packs professionally and ships by sea. Send us your drawings and segmentation and connection requirements for a drawing-based review and quote.
See our high-rise building steel solution, the box column page and the H-beam page; for fabrication capability, the steel fabrication service. Send us your drawings and tolerance requirements for a fabrication assessment and quote.
